About Andrea

Meet Dr. Andrea Di Sante, MRCVS

Originally from Italy, Andrea qualified in Veterinary Medicine from the Universita' degli Studi di Milano ( Italy) in 2008. Driven by a passion for travel and new experiences, he moved to the UK to begin his veterinary career.

From 2008 to 2011, Andrea worked for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) as an Official Veterinarian, focusing on meat inspection, food safety, and animal welfare. Although this role provided invaluable experience, his true passion has always been caring for companion animals.

In 2010, Andrea relocated to the North West of England and joined a busy small animal hospital in West Lancashire, treating dogs, cats, and small mammals. Over the following decade, he dedicated himself to small animal medicine, developing a particular passion for preventative healthcare and building lasting relationships with pets and their families.

In 2021, Andrea stepped away from traditional clinical practice to found The Vaccine Vet, a mobile veterinary service dedicated to making preventative healthcare more accessible by providing vaccinations, health checks, and other routine care in the comfort of pets' own homes. The Vaccine Vet continues to thrive today, helping countless cats and dogs receive convenient, stress-free veterinary care while reducing the anxiety often associated with visiting a veterinary practice.

Over the years, Andrea also recognised a growing need for compassionate, dignified end-of-life care provided in the comfort of home. Supporting families through some of their most difficult moments reinforced his belief that pets deserve a peaceful farewell in familiar surroundings, surrounded by the people who love them.

Committed to providing the highest standard of end-of-life care, Andrea believes that learning should never stop. He has successfully completed the Compassion Understood professional training programme, strengthening his knowledge of pet bereavement support and compassionate communication with grieving families. He is also currently enrolled with the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC), undertaking further education in animal hospice, palliative care, and compassionate at-home euthanasia. This ongoing professional development reflects his commitment to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care and supporting families with empathy through one of life's most difficult moments.

In 2026, Andrea founded The Gentle Crossing Vet, a sister service to The Vaccine Vet, dedicated exclusively to providing compassionate at home euthanasia and end of life support for cats and dogs. Together, the two services reflect Andrea's commitment to supporting pets and their families throughout every stage of life: from preventative healthcare and wellness to gentle, respectful end-of-life care delivered with empathy and compassion.
